Life Update
It is with a heavy heart we share that Emilie Pretzer PA-C will be leaving our practice at the end of April to pursue a position at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Emergency Department. This was a very difficult decision, but it will allow her to be home during the day with her baby. Please help us wish her well in her next steps. In the meantime, Jessica Clark PA-C has joined the practice and will be running with Emilie in April to meet patients and take the hand-off. White Pine commits to continuing to provide quality care!

2022 Wrap Up
Happy New Year Everyone! We welcomed our last WPFM baby boy in late November. Congratulations to Olivia Presnell PA-C and her husband. Mama and baby Emmaus are doing great! Olivia will be returning from maternity leave in February.
Holiday Hours

Chili Cook Off

Thanksgiving Week Hours
Please note WPFM will be closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 to allow our employees time to celebrate with their families. An on-call provider is available for emergent call.
The Bridge is Open!!
Construction on the Main Street bridge has finally been completed. No more detours to get to the office! If you need any routine appointments before the end of the year, please call to schedule. Our slots are filling quickly. See you soon!
Fall Back
We hope everyone remembered to turn those clocks back an hour last night. Work on good sleep hygiene (going to bed and getting up at the same times) to offset the lag associated with the time change. A quick brisk walk can also give you a boost if you're feeling sleepy too early.

Big Game
We love football at WPFM. And if you live in Michigan, you probably know there is a big rivalry between Michigan State and U of M. Well that goes for our office also! Let's see who has bragging rights on Monday and who is hanging their head after the big game Saturday.

Thank you so much for the outpouring of love while we mourn the loss of Nancy Moore, our amazing practice manager. We appreciate all the flowers, warm sentiments and treats. She truly touched many lives! In this transition, Lisa Matthews PA-C is taking on most of the management roles and so her time available to see patients is reduced. If you are a Lisa patient, we kindly ask you to be willing to see one of our other fine PA's in this interim. It is temporary and Lisa will be back to full patient speed in a few months!
Unexpected Loss
We are devastated to share our beloved practice manager, Nancy Moore, passed away yesterday in a car accident. She was the heart and soul behind WPFM, a one-of-a-kind wonder. Please keep her family in your prayers as we all mourn this tremendous loss. The office will be closed Tuesday, October 11 so that our staff can pay their respects. On call providers will be available for emergent issues only. Thank you for your understanding!
Life Happens
We are sad to let you know Karli Gormley, PA-C will be leaving our practice at the end of the year. If you are a Karli patient, rest assured we are working on an awesome replacement (more details on that soon!). In the meantime, the rest of us will bridge your care. Join us in wishing Karli all the best with her move, new home and upcoming nuptials!
Flu Shot Clinic
Wednesday, September 21 we will be having a walk-in flu vaccine clinic. Stop in between 9 am and 1 pm to get your flu shots!
Evening Hours Return
We are resuming evening appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you require non-traditional hours, we also have early morning hours available. If you are able to come during our regular business hours, we appreciate you doing so.

COVID Vaccine Boosters
We are getting lots of questions regarding when you should get your next COVID booster. If you can wait, there are updated boosters expected in September and October that will offer better coverage of the strains we are now seeing. If you are unsure if you can wait, please call and ask your provider. We will let you know when we have the updated boosters.
Summer Love
Make the most of this last month of beautiful Michigan summer. Go for a hike, read a book, plan an adventure with your loved ones. It's good for your health to make sure you are taking time for self care, but sometimes you have to schedule it in this busy world.
Back to School Planning
We know summer is only half over! But if your kiddos need vaccines, well child checks or sports physicals, we are currently scheduling into August. Please call and make sure to secure your space NOW so we can accommodate you in the back to school rush. This is also a great time to review our office vaccine policy. We are happy to answer any questions!

Two of our summer baby boys have arrived! (Expecting 2 more in August.) Baby Cooper is growing fast and last week our Emilie Pretzer, PA-C and her husband welcomed their first child. Mama and baby are doing great. Hello baby Cade!

Summer Time Kids Clinic
We still offer kids clinic for acute illnesses in our patients ages 0-18 years old from 11:30 am -12:30 pm Monday-Friday. No appointment necessary. We do not have a devoted daily provider in the summer but share the responsibility, so please be flexible with what provider you are assigned. We will make sure your kiddos get excellent care!

Mammogram Bus at WPFM
The Spectrum Health Mammogram Bus will be at WPFM on Monday, March 28. Please call our front desk and we can get you scheduled. They have 3D mammograms and most all of the latest technology right there. Easy-peasy, get your squeezy!

Do I need a COVID-19 Booster Shot?
Yes, if you meet certain criteria. Individuals 65 years of age and older; individuals 18 through 64 years of age at high risk of severe COVID-19; and individuals 18 through 64 years of age whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 should get a COVID-19 Booster. You should get your booster 6 months after your last dose. A mix and match method is acceptable, meaning you can get any booster, regardless of what you got to start. If you got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, evidence suggests you may do better if you are vaccinated with a Pfizer or Moderna booster. We have Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines and boosters available. Please call to schedule today! If that all sounds confusing, just call the office or send a message to your provider asking for guidance.
Kids Clinic Reminder
During this back to school season, we just wanted to give a friendly reminder. Kids Clinic is 11:30-12:30 Monday through Friday for White Pine Family Medicine patients ages 0-18. Please do not try to arrive earlier than 10 minutes. It is meant for acute visits only. That means sore throats, earaches, rashes, cough, ankle sprains, etc. Things that need a quick visit with any provider. What Kids Clinic is NOT for is chronic conditions, sports physicals, conditions like headaches or abdominal pain that have been ongoing for some time, depression, concussion follow ups, etc. Those are things that need enough time devoted to a proper evaluation and treatment plan. If you aren't sure if your child's illness is Kids Clinic appropriate, call and we will advise.
Flu Shots Are Available!
We now have flu shots available for all ages. You CAN get a flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time. We have plenty of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine available as well. Please call to schedule a time to receive a vaccine.
PEACE LOVE VACCINE!
As kids go back to school, we are seeing higher cases of COVID-19 in our community. Please consider getting your COVID-19 vaccine if you have not already. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. AND as an incentive, we have $10 gift cards available once you have finished your vaccine series. Choose from Meijer, Wesco, Classic Kelly's, The Red Bird or CS Brewing.
Expanded Office Hours
We are resuming our regular office hours. Evening appointments are available on Mondays and Tuesdays and early mornings start at 7:00 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays. Call to schedule your appointments today!
Kids Clinic
Kids Clinic will resume after Labor Day. Remember the hours are 11:30-12:30 Monday through Friday. Our established patients age 0-18 with an acute medical complaint may walk in and be seen by the provider working the clinic.
